Two New Fully Endowed Chairs Announced

Posted December 6th, 2011 by Chris Donato

This past Saturday, December 3, Trinity International University held “An Evening at Trinity” reception and dinner, complete with Christmas carols and interviews with a college student and a divinity student about the impact TIU and the donors who give to the University have made on their lives.

President Williford also announced the reception of a large gift (from donors who wish to remain anonymous), restricted to the purpose of fully funding two new chairs:

  • The William Washington Endowed Chair of Student Leadership: Given in honor of Dr. William Washington’s outstanding leadership in student affairs for more than 25 years. Dr. Washington, senior vice president for student affairs, has been a faithful servant to his alma mater during this time, and he will be the first to occupy the chair.
  • The Wesley Anderson Endowed Chair of Business: Given in honor of Mr. Wesley Anderson’s outstanding fiscal leadership and service to the University. Mr. Anderson served on the Trinity College Board and later as a full-time staff member for 13 years. The chair of the business department at the college, Dr. Wendy L. Martin, will occupy this chair.

“This gift speaks volumes about the University,” said President Craig Williford. “The donors clearly value and have confidence in the mission, strategic plan, leadership, and personnel of Trinity International University.”

Dr. David Hoag, senior vice president for university advancement, added that the gift “strategically prepares us for the future by adding over $6 million to the University’s endowment.” Dr. Hoag also noted that the donors hope this gift inspires others to give what they can to the University. “While it secures the future of these two chairs, the Trinity Fund, which feeds student scholarships, remains one of our highest priorities,” he said.
